Java was Brian and Connie Rau's female black Labrador Retriever. She began her career in 1999 at the age of 14 months, and spent the next 11 years working in mantrailing, cadaver, and water recovery all around Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. In 2005 she and Brian responded to Hancock County, Mississippi after Hurrican Katrina. She officially became a consultant (retired) in 2009. On Dec 17, 2010, she finally ended her battle with an aggressive form of lung cancer and moved on to train future Search Puppies.
