Welcome to Buckeye Search and Rescue Dogs

Who we are

Buckeye Search and Rescue Dogs (a.k.a BSARD) is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation of dedicated canines and their handlers. Our mission is to help local, state and federal emergency services agencies locate missing people. This is achieved by the use of highly-trained scenting dogs who are able to detect and discriminate the distinctive scent signatures every person leaves behind.

Because BSARD is not a government agency, we are not restricted to any county or state boundaries. We are available 24 x 7, and perform our duties at no cost to the agency or family. We adhere to the standard Incident Control System and report to the Operations Manager. We never self-deploy, and will only officially respond when called upon by the authority of the Incident Commander.

Our dogs and handlers train regularly in many disciplines critical to a good canine search operation:

We hold our dogs and personnel to high standards, and continually seek to improve our canines' skills as well as our own.

Our organization is committed to educating the public about canine search and rescue, as well as steps they can take to enhance their survivability in an emergency situation. Our members have performed dozens of presentations to fire and police departments, school and day care groups, church groups, and other social and professional organizations.

	The National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR)		International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA)
	Canine Search and Recovery (CSAR)		Ohio Federation of K9 Search and Rescue Teams

We also work hand-in-hand with other search and rescue organizations around the region.
