
Search Planning and Operations, Field Support
Ed has been associated with volunteer Search and Rescue since 1998; first with another K9 SAR team in southern Ohio, and then as a founding member of BSARD in 2004. He has served twice on the BSARD Board of Directors.
He is a US Army veteran, having served in the mid 1970s as a Field Artillery (Missile) Fire Direction Specialist, where he attained the rank of E5 while performing communications, mapping, and command and control protocols.
His private-sector professional career was spent with several companies, mostly in various Information Technology fields, before retiring as a Software Engineer. For the last twenty years he was also the drummer in a bluegrass-rock fusion band.

- Prior NASAR SARTECH III certification.
- Completed NIMS IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, IS-700 and IS-800.
- Certified Adult, Child and Infant First Aid, CPR and AED.
- Completed GPS Navigation.
- Completed Crime Scene Preservation.
- Completed HazMat and WMD Awareness.
- Completed Respiratory Protection and Personal Protection against Blood-borne Pathogens.
- Completed “Managing Search Operations” (40 hours) by CDS Outdoor School.
- Completed Canine First Aid.
