Liz Schneider and K9 Dalton

Liz has prior experience in K9 Search and Rescue dating back to 2008 and began as a K9 Handler with BSARD in January 2012.

She served two consecutive terms on BSARD’s Board of Directors from 2015 through 2017, and 2018 through 2021 (four years instead of the normal three because no elections were held in 2020 due to COVID).

Liz retired from being an active handler with her K9 partner Dalton in June 2021 to start her family, but remains as a dues-paying member of BSARD and is eligible to vote and participate in team functions. During her active time with the team she participated in 63 search operations.

While a handler, Liz held certifications for Mantrailing with Dalton and Payton, Human Remains Detection on Land with Dalton and Payton, and Human Remains Detection in Water with Payton.

Liz’s personal certifications include NASAR SARTECH I, NASAR SARTECH II Evaluator, Wilderness First Responder(WFR), ASHI Level 9 Wilderness Emergency Care instructor, NIMS ICS courses (100, 200, 300, 700, and 800), and Adult, Child and Infant First Aid, CPR and AED.

Other training she has completed throughout her career include GPS Navigation, Crime Scene Preservation, Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Awareness, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness, Personal Respiratory Protection, Personal Protection against Blood-borne Pathogens, and Canine First Aid (former Veterinary Technician).

Liz is a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Her favorite downtime hobby is photography. (She took the photo of Kyra at the top of our home page as well as many of the photos throughout the web site.)
