Jeanette has been a SAR professional since 2011, working with a Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit in Oregon, before coming to BSARD in 2022. In addition to her duties as a Senior K9 Handler, she also helps with Field Support.
Jeanette and her current K9 partners Jolene and Remington are certified for Mantrailing, Wilderness Area Search, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water.
Prior certifications she has held with her K9 partner Auggington include Wilderness Area Search, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water. She was also certified as a Ground Search team member.
Jeanette’s personal certifications include NIMS ICS courses (100, 200, 700, and 800), and Adult, Child and Infant First Aid, CPR and AED. Other training she has completed throughout her career include GPS Navigation, Crime Scene Preservation, HazMat Awareness, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness, Personal Respiratory Protection, and Personal Protection against Blood-borne Pathogens.
Jeanette is a retired logging company administrator.
K9 Jolene, Active since 2022
Jolene is a female Labrador Retriever, born in July 2020.
She is certified for Mantrailing, Wilderness Area Search, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water. She has also received her Canine Good Citizen certification from the AKC.
In 2024, Jolene gave birth to 10 Yellow Labrador Retriever puppies. All of the pups went to working homes throughout the country, except for Remington. who is now also part of BSARD.
She likes playing and sunbathing on the back deck, but she likes cuddling with Jeanette the most.
K9 Remington (Remi), Active since 2024
Remi is a male Labrador Retriever, born in June 2024. His mother is Jolene and he has 9 littermates, all of whom went to working homes around the country.
He is certified for Human Remains Detection on Land.
Remi’s best friend is his housemate Malakai, a Corgi who is less than half his size.
K9 Auggington (Auggie), Active 2022 to 2023
Auggie is a male Labrador Retriever, born in September 2011. He is Jolene’s uncle and Remi’s granduncle
He began his SAR career in Oregon in March 2013, and joined BSARD with Jeanette in May 2022. During his career he was certified for Wilderness Area Search, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water. He was very active during his time in the Pacific Northwest. During his year with BSARD he participated in 2 water search operations.
Auggie retired in July 2023 and has been enjoying his retirement at home.
