
Jeff began training for SAR work in 2012, and was voted onto the team in August 2013 as a K9 Handler with his first search partner, Liesl.
He retired from being an active K9 handler with his K9 partners Ruby and Cash in August 2022 due to life events, but remains as a dues-paying member of BSARD and is eligible to vote and participate in team functions. During his active time with the team he participated in 25 search operations.
While a K9 Handler he held certifications for Human Remains Detection on Land with Liesl and Ruby, and certified for Human Remains Detection in Water with Liesl.
Other training he has completed during his career include GPS Navigation, Crime Scene Preservation, Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Awareness, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness, Personal Respiratory Protection, and Personal Protection against Blood-borne Pathogens.
Jeff is an engineer by profession.
K9 Cash, Active from 2020 to 2022

Cash is a male Labrador Retriever, born May 2020. He started training for Human Remains Detection on Land in August 2020 until Jeff stood down from active duty in August 2022.
His mother Ruby and littermate Höffen were also on the team.
K9 Ruby, Active from 2016 to 2022

Ruby was a female Labrador Retriever, born July 2016.
She began training in September 2016 and eventually certified for Human Remains Detection on Land. She retired in when Jeff stood down from active duty in August 2022 after almost 6 years. During her career she participated in 16 search operations.
Two of Ruby’s puppies, Cash and Höffen, were also on the team.
K9 Liesl, Active from 2013 to 2016

Liesl was a female German Shepherd Dog who began training with Jeff in May 2013.
She certified for Human Remains Detection on Land and Human Remains Detection in Water.
Liesl passed away unexpectedly in May 2016. During her brief career she participated in 7 search operations.
