Sheri Hammonds began her SAR career in 2001 before joining BSARD in April 2012 as a Senior K9 Handler. During her career she and her K9 partners certified in Mantrailing, Wilderness Area Search, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water.
Sheri and her husband Kelly retired from BSARD in October 2025 to move out of state. While a member for BSARD she participated in 33 search operations.
K9 Rip, Active from 2022 to 2025
Rip is a male German Shepherd Dog, born February 2022 and was Sheri’s current partner at the time she retired from BSARD.
He is certified for Human Remains Detection on Land, and was training to certify in Mantrailing when he left with Sheri and family in October 2025. In the 3-1/2 years he was with BSARD he participated in 3 search operations.
K9 Paladin, Active from 2013 to 2019
Paladin was a male German Shepherd Dog who was active from January 2013 to August 2019.
He was certified for Mantrailing, Human Remains Detection on Land, and Human Remains Detection in Water.
